Kathy Lewis Honored for Leadership in Environmental Advocacy
Kathy Lewis, President of the Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center
LISBON, OH, November 9, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kathy Lewis, President of the Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of environmental preservation and education.
Kathy Lewis had worked as a nursing assistant for more than 20 years when she saw an article in her local newspaper communicating the need for volunteers in the environmental advocacy industry. Immediately, she knew that she had to join the cause. Today, Mrs. Lewis serves as President of the Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center. Specializing in environmental education, she manages the center, organizes tours and lectures on topics pertaining to the environment, wildlife and recycling. With the support of her mentor, Jim Kerr, she is currently expanding local efforts nationwide and is in the process of applying for grants that will fund educational and lobbying initiatives. Named the National Wildlife Federation's 2008 Volunteer of the Year, Mrs. Lewis serves as its literary ambassador and has completed several courses through the organization.
In addition to the National Wildlife Federation, Mrs. Lewis' professional and philanthropic affiliations include the American Diabetes Association, the American Lung Association, Friends for the Preservation of Ohio State Parks and the Ohio Environmental Council.
